This year has its own symbols

Tradition gives the seventeenth year its own symbols. They suit us.

Carnelian

The gemstone of year seventeen. A warm, fiery orange stone said to carry courage, energy and passion. Still burning after seventeen years.

Red carnations

The flower of this anniversary. Its ruffled petals stand for a love that has held strong through good years and hard ones.

Yellow

The colour of the seventeenth year. On this page it leans gold. Warm, enduring and impossible to tarnish. Sounds familiar.

The traditional gift

Furniture. Truly.

Tradition says the seventeenth anniversary gift is furniture. It sounds unromantic until you think about it.

Furniture is what you build a home around. It is the table where everything gets talked through, the chairs that hold you at the end of long days, the bed you wake up in next to the person you chose.

Seventeen years in, that is what we have made together. A home. It is my favourite place on earth because you are in it. Two chairs, side by side, sounds about right.
